Professor Andrzej Pająk
Professor Dr. Andrzej Pająk, is a professor at the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków, Poland, where he chairs the Department of Epidemiology and Population Studies. Originally, a specialist in internal medicine, his later professional curriculum has focused on epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. He participated in the WHO MONICA Project, the EUROASPIRE II,III -IV projects and now is a member of the steering committee and country principal investigator in the Health, Alcohol and Psychosocial Factors in the Eastern Europe (HAPIEE) Study. Within the latter project he has studied the relationships between alcohol consumption and blood pressure and coronary heart disease; he is also interested in the psychosocial determinants of cardiovascular disease and aging.
